Your member contributions are money you contribute to MilitarySuper from your after-tax salary; your minimum contribution rate is 5% of your salary. Contributions are not taxed on entry to MilitarySuper as long as you do not claim a tax deduction for them. Member contributions from 1 July 1999 cannot be withdrawn from MilitarySuper until you reach your preservation age and permanently retire from work.
You cannot choose which superannuation fund receives your contributions. Choice of fund legislation does not apply to partly unfunded government defined benefit schemes such as MilitarySuper.
You can, however, roll your ancillary contributions to another regulated super fund at any time or choose a separate fund to receive your future additional super contributions such as salary sacrifice amounts.
